A day at The Oisterwijkse bossen and vennen

The Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen, located in the southern Netherlands, is a picturesque natural area known for its diverse landscapes of forests, heathlands, and pristine ponds (vennen). This serene environment offers an ideal setting for a refreshing day out with your furry companion.
Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen is notably dog-friendly, welcoming well-behaved dogs on most of its trails. This makes it a favorite destination for dog owners seeking outdoor activities that both they and their pets can enjoy. However, it’s important to keep dogs on a leash to protect wildlife and maintain the area’s natural balance. There are several opportunities for your dog to take a swim!
As you explore, you’ll encounter several charming vennen (ponds) scattered throughout the landscape. These tranquil bodies of water not only provide picturesque views but also serve as habitats for various bird species, adding to the area’s biodiversity. Be sure to pause at these serene spots to take in the beauty and perhaps catch a glimpse of local wildlife.
There are several walking routes available. Maybe you like this one: Komoot: Achterste Goorven – Klein Aderven rondtocht vanuit Bunders en Levenskerk.
During the walk, you pass Boshuis Venkraai, where you can have a refreshing or warm drink.
When you start your walk, you will pass restaurant Speijck. We did the walk first and had delicious croquettes on bread on our return. Dogs are also allowed at this restaurant.
