The Cotswolds
Basically, there are lots of beautiful places in the Cotswolds. The first time in The Cotswolds was in February 2022. We visited two places then: Bibury and Castle Combe. Both two fairytale towns. We left early in the morning and were therefore able to park just outside the town of Bibury, but it is probably very busy in another season. So make sure you go on time!
The second time was in December 2023. We drove a route from Cheltenham through the northern Cotswolds past all sorts of towns and spent a day doing so. Our advice is not to go in the summer and on weekends. We were now on the Sunday of Christmas Eve and it was already quite crowded. We think it is much busier in summer. We left early in the morning which made it quite doable, but keep this in mind.
Cheltenham
Cheltenham is a great place from which to explore the Northern Cotswolds. We spent two nights at hotel The George. A tremendously dog-friendly hotel. Dogs are for free and parking is also free. The room was a bit small, but your dog gets a nice bed with a drinking bowl and snacks. Be sure to ask for a first floor room if your dog can’t climb stairs. We forgot this ourselves and had to lift Shampoo up and down several flights of stairs every day.”
Dogfriendly restaurants in Cheltenham:
– The Swan – good food in a pub, mostly Indian menu
– The Tavern – a little more expensive, but certainly fine food.
