The famous Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) is a must-see: a beautiful balcony with 2,657 gilded tiles, an icon of the city. Many terraces and cafés in this area are dog-friendly, so you can enjoy a coffee or a local Tyrolean speciality together.
Speckeria
The Speckeria in Innsbruck is a paradise for lovers of traditional Tyrolean delicacies, with the absolute star of the show being bacon! Located in the city’s historic centre, this charming delicatessen offers a wide selection of the best Tyrolean bacon varieties, such as air-dried and smoked, each with its own unique flavour and texture.
Besides bacon, you can enjoy other regional specialities at the Speckeria, such as crusty bread, spicy cheeses, and homemade sausages. Everything is produced with love and care, often using traditional techniques passed down for generations.
Whether you are looking for something to enjoy immediately, want to take home a tasty souvenir, or just want to soak up the atmosphere of authentic Tyrolean cuisine, the Speckeria is an absolute must. A visit here will give you a real taste of Tyrol and your dog is more then welcome too!
Stadtturm
The tower you can climb in Innsbruck is the Stadtturm (City Tower). This historic tower, located in the heart of the Altstadt, offers great views of the city and the surrounding Alps. Built in the 15th century, the Stadtturm used to serve as a watchtower and has a height of about 51 metres. After climbing the 133 steps, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of Innsbruck’s rooftops and the impressive mountain world around it. It’s a great place to admire the cityscape and the Alps at a glance!
Hofburg
For a slice of history, explore the impressive Hofburg, a palace that once served as the residence of Empress Maria Theresa. Also stroll through the Hofgarten, a quiet and green oasis in the city where your dog can have a nice walk while you enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains.
Nordkette
The real highlight? The Nordkette Cable Car! This modern cable car takes you from the city centre to the Alps in just a few minutes, at an altitude of over 2,000 metres. Dogs are more than welcome on board (with a leash and muzzle, as usual in Austria). Once at the top, you can enjoy beautiful hiking trails, fresh mountain air and spectacular views together. It is a bit pricy to go all the way to the top, but if you make it a day trip, it will be worth it!
