Fichtelgebirge
If you are staying in the Bayreuth area, the Fichtelgebirge offers a great opportunity to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. You have many opportunities for great walks with your dog here!
Hike Weißmainquelle
The Weissmainquelle offers a wonderful hiking opportunity in the Fichtelgebirge in Bavaria. Here, rocks, logs and the river alternate.

You start your hike at the Karches hiking car park on the B303. Here, your dog has an immediate opportunity to take a dip in the water. You immediately pass a restaurant. When we were there, the restaurant was closed (it said they are closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays).
Past the restaurant’s terrace, you walk slowly up along a beautiful moss-covered forest path to the Weissmannfelsen, from where you have a great view. You continue your trek to Ochsenkopf where there is a restaurant with a viewing tower. They have delicious kaiserschmarrn here :).
A wonderful place to take a rest and enjoy the view from above: Gaststätte Asenturm.

You can choose to continue your hike on foot (your walk will take about two hours back to the car), or you can take the Seilbahnen Ochsenkopf down. We chose to take the cable car down, because I love cable cars ;). Once at the bottom, you can do a round of tobogganing if you like this.

After this, you can continue your hike back towards your car. You walk down a very nice path along the river and there are several opportunities for your dog to swim in the clear water.

Afterwards, tired but satisfied, you can treat yourself to a delicious drink in Bayreuth, for example at the Altes Schloss Eremitage. Read more about it on my page about Bavarian Castles.
