Dog friendly hospitality
Places where dogs are allowed
Our experience of Ireland is that it is not so easy to find a place to eat or drink a cup of coffee where you can bring your dog. Most restaurants do not allow dogs inside, but there are definitely places where dogs are more than welcome! There are quite a few places where dogs are not welcome inside, but they are on the terrace. So if you are lucky with the weather, you can enjoy a snack or drink on the terrace with your dog. We were very lucky with the weather (in april/may), so we could eat outside a lot!

Hotel + restaurant:
– Rathkeale House Hotel – Great hotel for a night as a base and the dog is welcome. The dog is not allowed in the restaurant. By the way, you can eat well in the restaurant.

Dublin
Restaurants/bars/cafes:
– The Old Stand Pub – A fun pub where dogs are allowed on the terrace.
– The Patriots Inn – Dogs are welcome outside.
Hotel:
– Hilton Hotel Kilmainham – This hotel is quite pricey, but when we booked a night in Dublin, the other hotels were much more expensive and this was the only hotel that allowed dogs. They charged 55 euros for bringing the dog, which is more than most hotels charge, but we got a nice welcome pack for the dog and they were super nice to our dog though.
You can also have a drink on the terrace at the Broyage Bar.

Belfast
Restaurant/Bar/Café:
– The Dirty Onion – Here you can eat delicious chicken and the dog is welcome both inside and outside.
– Pottinger’s Belfast – A nice coffee shop that also lets your dog in.
Hotel:
– Malmaison Belfast – Dogs are also welcome at this hotel. The location is okay for exploring Belfast city centre.
